I want to know You

I want to know You more than anything

A world that surrounds me, I live in everyday

Doesn’t compare to knowing You

You take me places I’ve never been before

You show me visions only You can give

I love it when You speak to me

I want to know You

I love to know You

Everything else I count as loss

I want to know You

I love to know You

No matter what the cost

The cost is nothing compared to knowing You

Hmm… this is a scary song to sing… I seemed to come to that realization tonight, while singing it…

Did I really know  what I was declaring?  Good Question.  It almost seems as if I was being challenged by the Almighty as the words were exiting my mouth.

Do you really believe what you are declaring?  Are you aware of the cost… you know it will cost you everything.  Are you sure it’s nothing?

During my musical dialogue with the Creator of the Universe, I came to the conclusion: I have no idea what the costs are.  I have no idea what Christ wants me to give up.  I have no idea what it means to truly know Him.  BUT- I want to find out… I want to come to know Him more than anything, and everything else is garbage compared to knowing Christ and making Him known.  After all, what good would it be to gain the world, yet loose my soul?

But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ.  What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things.  I consider them rubbish, that I might gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that of which is through faith in Christ-the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.  I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow to attain to the resurrection from the dead.                    -Philippians 3: 7-11

  1. I first heard this song at Acquire the Fire a few years ago. Shortly after, we started singing it at church. I don’t remember who it’s written by! I tried to look for the song on itunes, but I can’t find it…
